Workpackages
Description of the different workpackages
The project includes theoretical
developments to complete the existing knowledge, the design and
integration of efficient algorithms and the realization of a
demonstrator. Of course, as much as possible, existing results and
algorithms are exploited, particularly those from the OFDM area.
Overall, three parts are distinguished: research in signal processing,
research in communication and design and realization of the
hardware/software demonstrator. Accordingly, the work packages have
been grouped into three clusters. The work can be summarised as:
SIGNAL PROCESSING CLUSTER (cluster leader: TUT)
WP2 – fast scalable synchronization and initialization, (WP2 leader: UNINA)
WP3 – transmit and receive processing (single antenna) (WP3 leader: UCL)
WP4 – MIMO transmit and receive processing (WP4 leader: CTTC)
WP5– prototype filter and filter bank structure (WP5 leader: TUT)
COMMUNICATION CLUSTER (cluster leader: TUM)
WP6 – dynamic access and cross layer aspects (WP6 leader: TUM)
WP7 – backward compatibility with OFDM (WP7 leader: ALUD)
WP8 – radio scene spectrum analysis and cognitive radio (WP8 leader: ALUK)
DEMONSTRATOR CLUSTER (cluster leader:
AGILENT)
WP9 – the
demonstrator includes the development and integration of a simulation
package, the implementation of a laboratory setup with real-time
channel emulation and performance measurement, and the evaluation of
the radio scene analysis functionality. A profile of the WiMAX standard
is taken as the reference for performance comparison with
OFDM. (WP9 leader: AGILENT)
